Greetings, Parents! This is a second career for me and what a privilege it is to be able to teach your wonderful kids. After graduation from the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse with a degree in Elementary Education, I worked in Kenya and Tanzania for a total of 4 years. After that, I coordinated volunteers and international work. I started working at Marshall Elementary in 2015 when I was a long-term substitute for third grade, immediately followed by a second grade long term substitute postion. I finished that school year working with kindergartners, first and second graders and subbing when there was a need. This is now my 7th year on the first grade team. I look forward to a great year and look forward to getting to know your children as well as you.
I am married and I have two wonderful daughters. My family and I enjoy kayaking, fly fishing, backpacking, visiting National Parks (we like to collect stamps from as many parks as we can) and discovering new things (especially food/restaurants).
If you need anything please do not hesitate to email at [email protected] or call the school at 616-878-6300.
Thanks
Jay Harsevoort
